2.4km Run Test

Run tests of a set distance have a number of advantages over set time tests. The major advantages are:

a) the subjects have a better concept of the length of the test, such as 6 laps of a set course.

b) easier administration (no need for markers)

c) more accurate results, with a stop watch giving accuracy to a fraction of a second.

One of the disadvantages of this type of test is the lack of consistent norms when compared to the Cooper's 12 minute run test for example.

Young children and those unaccustomed to strenuous exercise should not perform this test.
